Inspired By Excellence & Innovation

CPPC serves as a resource for students and a platform for the next generation of China experts, a hub for innovative track 2 diplomacy and an active proponent of local, state and national engagement with China, particularly in the areas of trade, investment and commerce.

The China Public Policy Center is distinct in several regards:

As part of The University of Texas, CPPC leverages the particular strengths and advantages of not only the university itself, but also those of the LBJ School of Public Affairs, one of the nation’s top public policy schools; the city of Austin; and the state of Texas, whose annual trade with China makes the country Texas’ third largest export market and largest source of imports.

CPPC’s robust and continuously expanding network enables it to bring together individuals from both China and the United States, from high-level officials and business leaders to emerging experts with novel approaches to key security and economic issues in the bilateral relationship.

CPPC is developing a strong thought leadership and media presence not only in English, but also in Mandarin Chinese, enabling the center to have far-reaching impact and visibility in both China and the United States.

The University of Texas China Public Policy Center at the LBJ School of Public Affairs is an academic unit, think tank, track 2 diplomacy hub and business, trade and investment facilitator that advances innovative China-focused policy research and action principally in ways that both serve and leverage the comparative advantages of the LBJ School of Public Affairs, The University of Texas at Austin, the city of Austin and the state of Texas, all toward the end of strengthening Texas-China relations and U.S.-China relations.
